Young Adult Resilience Initiative (YARI)
The Light of Zen Institute introduces YARI, a structured, evidence-informed meditation program designed to transform modern pressures into opportunities for lasting growth.
Today’s young adults face a documented crisis. In 2023, 37% of U.S. high school students reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness—the highest rate on record. Meanwhile, young adults report the highest stress levels nationally.
YARI equips those aged 16–22 with a toolkit of reflection, presence, and self-regulation skills through research-proven meditation practices.
We are a non-religious 501(c)(3) organization founded by experienced Zen meditation practitioners with backgrounds in psychology, education, and science.

- Measurable Data: Success is tracked using two globally validated scales: the PSS-10 (Perceived Stress Scale) and the FFMQ (Five-Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire).
- The Goal: Outcomes data will be published to help bring this program to high schools and colleges nationwide.
